A question we so often ask ourselves.
The definition of identity is knowing exactly who you are and why you were created. So, who are you? Who do you want to be? Jot down a list. Daughter, sister, friend, believer, dreamer, creative, genuine, sensitive, and introverted are some words I’d use to define myself. However, the beauty of our true identity is best understood in the context of God's perspective.
Who does God say that I am? Matthew 5:13-14: Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this world.
Jesus uses the metaphors of salt and light to describe the role of his disciples in the world. The idea is that believers are called to be a positive influence, bringing out the best in others. We are called to bring goodness and light to our surroundings, positively impacting the people and communities we interact with. It's a call to live out our faith in a visible, impactful way that brings glory to God.
Discovering your identity in Christ is a triumph, a victory worth cherishing. Do not let anybody obstruct your journey towards fully embracing the unique individuals God designed us to be. The daily battles with comparison, doubt, and insecurity are not mere coincidences but strategic moves in a larger agenda. When we look past who the world tells us we are and who we should be, we can become the most fearless and authentic versions of ourselves in Christ. Do not let the world strip you of your power and strength. Turn to God, and He will show you not only who you are but also to whom you belong. It is only in Him that we find our true purpose and identity. It is only in Him that we can become the embodiment of who we are meant to be.
When you know who you are in Christ, you can live in freedom. As young women, understanding and living out our identity in Christ is not just about personal freedom—it's about unleashing our power to authentically contribute to the world, break barriers, and make a lasting impression on the people around us. So, let's boldly embrace who we are, rooted in the truth of God's Word, and shine as the vibrant women we were uniquely created to be.
