How to let go of anger and resentment...

Being angry is a natural human quality that we all feel sometimes. It’s a very strong emotion that can often make us act impulsively. If not let go, anger can turn into resentment. Here are some ways we can choose love and peace over anger and resentment:

1. Choose forgiveness. Choose to forgive yourself and others. Ask God for the strength to be forgiving. Forgiving means you are intentionally choosing to give the situation over to God and that you are forgiving them as the Lord forgave you.

2. Do not dwell on your anger or sadness. Proverbs 17:9 says that love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. Jesus does not want us to hold on to bitter feelings toward others in our lives.

3. Remember that we are human and because of that we will all make mistakes. No matter what, all of us are equal and worthy of respect and love. Despite all of our differences, we are all God’s children.

4. Replace your anger with compassion. This is such a challenging thing to do, but it is so rewarding for both you and the person you are having conflict with. Maybe you are angry with yourself for how you handled an argument with your parent or friend. Replace your anger with compassion and love for yourself! We have to learn to forgive ourselves before we can learn to forgive others.

In conclusion, forgiveness is something that each and every one of us will have to practice for the rest of our lives. No matter what, we need to remember that we are all equally deserving of love and respect! Remember the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made so that we could be forgiven. Love like Jesus!!!
