I cannot believe 2022 is coming to a close. Like any year, 2022 had its ups and downs. Here are a few pieces of advice that I learned this year and will be taking with me into the new year…
Sometimes life will throw you a curveball that you didn’t expect. If you are anything like me, I love to plan out EVERYTHING. I am a huge fan of routine and control. It’s been something I’ve had to challenge myself to work on this year and will probably have to for the rest of my life. What has helped me to work through this struggle is a simple but powerful phrase that is my mantra going into 2023. This affirmation is: “Let go and give it to God.” What this means is that even if life doesn’t go according to my plan, it’s going according to God's plan. His plan for my life is more amazing and beautiful than I could ever imagine. The blessings God has in store for my life are greater than my worldly wants and longings. God is in charge!
It’s totally ok to set boundaries with people. Setting healthy boundaries is a crucial part of having quality relationships with others. In what way can you set boundaries with people in your life right now?
Have a consistent self-care routine! Mine includes journaling, going on long walks, reading a good book, and praying. I do this routine both in the morning and at night, whenever I feel like it! Everyone’s self-care routine is going to look a little different because we are all comforted in different ways. It can be super simple like mine or crazy long! It’s whatever you want it to be. I swear by having a self-care routine and absolutely recommend everyone start one in the new year.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled with insecurities about my body. This year, I found that I know my worth through Jesus Christ alone. The world cannot shake me when I am confident in who I am as a child of God. If you too are struggling with body image, I have an excellent verse for you. “I came so that you may have life, and have it to the fullest.” John 10:10. Do not let insecurity dictate your life! Live life to the fullest!
Protect your peace. Be more intentional about what you watch and listen to. A lot of times, we don’t realize how much these things can affect our mental health. Fill your soul with worship music, podcasts, and inspiring movies. Trust me, you will feel so at peace.
Practice gratitude every day! Set a goal to do at least 10 to 15 minutes of prayer or meditation every day to thank God for all of the blessings in your life. If you are struggling to name a few things you’re grateful for, here is an example: I am grateful for my home, my family, the food on my table, and my education.
Instead of making goals/resolutions that focus on yourself and your own “success”, make this new year about others first. Personally, I want to focus on being a better daughter, sister, friend, and role model for others. I want to serve others more. I want to love people better and more intentionally. I want to be an encourager, cheerleader, and friend to more.
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY SWEET ANGELS!!! I wish you all nothing but blessings. I love you all so much and am super excited for us all to continue growing together. 2023 is the year of miracles.
